Picasso Jasper is a metamorphic limestone, however I am confused why this material was called Picasso Jasper. If you have looked at any of Pablo Picasso’s paintings there is little correlation between this material and those works, but to each their own, not the name I would have chosen. This material is a brecciated limestone that has been through several transformations under the Earth to create this intricate pattern. It originally was a grey limestone, but then fractured during tectonic activity and a second flow of black Jasper filled the cracks. This piece has a lovely and modernistic pattern to it. These pieces always look nice once set and will make an excellent pendant. Enjoy!
