Here is an amazing Sunstone gem!  Oregon Sunstone is one of the most beautiful gems for North America, and is one of the few elite gemstones that are naturally red color.  What is rarer than the excellent red color is blue.  Few of the Oregon Sunstones come in a distinct blue color, and most times the blue is joined by red and makes for dark stones when the colors are mixed.  This material is strongly dichroic, displaying a stunning blue/green color from one direction and a lovely copper/red from a 90 degree turn.  This allows us to isolate the colors nicely and create excellent results.  The Oregon material is typically included with “Shiller” or Copper particles that give gemstones a beautiful and unique appearance.  However, this stone has almost none of the Shiller.  It has been custom faceted into this barion cushion shape that looks fantastic on this material.  The stone was oriented with the blue color face up, but along the edges the copper and champagne colors come through for a beautiful bi-color effect.  The stone rolls with glitter when moved on the hand.  This is one of the finest blue Sunstones we have ever had, and extremely difficult to replace in this quality.  Cut at Kosnar Gems, Colorado, USA.  Enjoy!
