This beautiful Bi-color Tourmaline from Brazil is an excellent example of the unique nature of Tourmaline.  Multi-color gemstones are something remarkable to see in hand that a stone can naturally be multiple colors at the same time.  This is caused by the chemistry of the chromophores inside the Tourmaline and the growth of the crystals.  These are also called Watermelon Tourmalines.  The cut is part of a new series called Valkyrie.  They are intricately carved baroque shield shapes that symbolize power and life.  It has a light green and light pink color split down the middle of the stone.  This stone will make a stunning and unique piece of jewelry.  Cut by Allyce Kosnar at Kosnar Gem Co, Colorado, USA.  Enjoy!
